Gail Wooster, LM

Gail’s journey into midwifery is one so many of us can relate to—one filled with dreams that paused for a season of motherhood, only to come back stronger and more refined. She always felt drawn to birth work, and after becoming a doula and welcoming her first grandbaby, she knew midwifery was exactly where God was calling her. Her very first client? Her daughter.

What she loves most is building relationships—getting to know her clients and their families, watching them grow in confidence, and helping them discover how strong and capable they really are. As she says, “I mother the mother.” And anyone who’s met Gail would agree—she radiates that nurturing, steady presence that so many birthing families long for.

One birth that will always stay with her is the story of a courageous 40-year-old mama who came to her during one of the hardest seasons of her life. She had left an abusive relationship, had no home, no income, and was pregnant with her third baby. But through the grace of God and the support of her birth team, she found healing and strength—and gave birth in such a powerful, redemptive way. It was a moment that marked them both.

Outside of her work here in Texas, Gail also has a heart for mothers around the world. For the past three years, she’s traveled to Uganda, where she’s helped educate over 11,220 women—bringing nurturing care, encouragement, and practical midwifery skills to areas with great need. She works alongside local midwives, sharing holistic, woman-centered care practices that empower them to serve their communities with greater confidence and compassion. The ripple effect of her work is truly incredible.

When she’s not catching babies, Gail’s spending time with her close-knit family (including four grandbabies!), reading, sewing, or enjoying the outdoors. She’s been married for 39 years, has four biological children, four bonus kids, and shares often how God completely transformed her heart from someone who didn’t want marriage or kids into a woman overflowing with family, love, and purpose.

Gail also pours into our student midwives and is always learning—whether through podcasts, hands-on trainings, or leading study groups. Her passion for education and community is exactly what we love to see in our TCM family.

“I don’t think we’re meant to do this alone,” she says. “That’s why I need Texas Community Midwives.”
