2028 Cruise

February 21–26, 2028

Come Learn, Connect & Cruise With Us

Join Texas Community Midwives for our 2028 Midwifery Cruise Conference aboard Carnival Horizon.

During the 5 Day Western Caribbean Cruise, we’ll gather for learning, conversation, encouragement, and connection with fellow midwives with plenty of time to enjoy the ship, explore the Western Caribbean, and make some memories along the way.

Whether you’re coming to learn, reconnect, meet new midwives, or simply enjoy some time away together, we can’t wait to have you with us!

Conference Registration:
$400 | TCM Members: $300

2 Full Sea Days of Midwifery

Our conference is a time to learn from experienced voices in midwifery, share ideas and experiences, and encourage one another in the work we do.

It’s also a chance to connect with midwives from across Texas and beyond, build new relationships, and enjoy time together outside of the usual day-to-day.

And when the conference sessions are over, there’s still plenty of time to relax, enjoy the ship, and keep the conversations going.

Sometimes the best conversations happen between the sessions.

Meet Our Speakers

Sylyna Kennedy, CNM

Speaker

Sylyna Kennedy, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife and East Texas native who was born and raised in Rusk. She felt called to midwifery from a young age and has a heart for supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

At the heart of Sylyna’s approach is a belief that women deserve to feel heard, respected, informed, and supported in their care. She values education and informed decision-making while partnering with each woman, honoring her individual values and preferences, and helping families feel confident in the choices they make.

For Sylyna, caring for women goes beyond clinical support. She brings encouragement, advocacy, compassion, and genuine connection to the families she serves, creating space for women to feel supported and cared for throughout their journey.

We’re excited to welcome Sylyna to the 2028 Midwifery Cruise Conference and learn from her experience and perspective.

Janet Dirmeyer, LM

Main Speaker

With more than 45 years in midwifery, Janet Dirmeyer brings a lifetime of experience, stories, wisdom, and dedication to serving women and families across Texas.

Janet has lived an extraordinary life in midwifery. She has served on the State Midwifery Board for nearly two decades, co-founded two midwifery organizations, and organized numerous midwifery conferences throughout her career. With decades of experience witnessing the changes within midwifery and birth care, she brings a unique perspective shaped by a lifetime of learning, serving, and walking alongside women, families, and fellow midwives.

Janet is especially passionate about encouraging midwives across Texas to become their very best selves and to remember that they don't have to walk this journey alone. She brings not only clinical and professional experience, but also the stories, lessons, and perspective that come from more than four decades in the birth community.

And with her love of bringing midwives together, it seems fitting that cruise conferences have been some of her favorites, making this first Texas Community Midwives cruise conference an especially meaningful opportunity to learn, connect, and share time.

We’re excited to learn from Janet, hear the stories gathered throughout her years in midwifery, and celebrate the community she has helped build along the way.
